Day With The Family

This week has been March Break week and being a teacher I get to spend the week with my little girl. These are the time I live for because not being a stay at home mom is something that I struggle with. I never thought that I would be the type to want to stay home. I always jokingly said that I wouldn't even survive my maternity leave. Well I survived it and cried when I had to go back. I miss her every moment I am at work but realize that I am showing her that women are entitled to a career and independence.

This week was all about spending time with Meg and letting her know that all my time is for her. She is an easy going toddler who can be as content playing alone as she is playing with others. Today we went to the park with my sister-in-laws and Meg's cousins. I went to put on her running shoes that she had just worn in November and she cried "These are too small". I didn't have running shoes that fit her. So she went in her rubber boots. I still wasn't convinced they were too small

We enjoyed playing on the slides, driving the pretend cards and giving each other wicked shocks from the plastic slides. We watched as one after the other they tumbled or tripped going up the stairs or chased after each other playing hide and seek. This is what life is all about. Playing and spending time with our families.

Meg could be found chasing Katie and wishing she could climb up the ladders the way Katie can. However, Meg toddled along and found her own way up the playground to go down what she calls the "curly slide". She loves the "curly slide". My favourite moment is when she said "Mommy will you come play with me?" I love to hear her say this because all too often I have to put her off for a minute or two and this week I don't have to say "wait one minute while mommy puts dinner in the oven..." or various other household duties.

While taking a break and chatting with my sister-in-laws the kids played and Meg soon came up to me and asked for some milk. I gave her her cup and away she went. Before I knew it, I couldn't see her. I went looking and found her in a tube by herself, laying down with her feet up on one side happily sipping away on her milk. So cute. I asked her what she was doing and she said "drinking my milk".

Only two and she realizes that she needs to take time out for herself away from the hustle and bustle!

On the way home from the part we stopped by the shoe store to look for some new shoes and to get her feet measured. Low and behold my kid went from a size 5/6 to a 7 over the winter.
Sure enough when I tried on a pair of size 6 shoes she complained they were too small again. Once I measured to be sure and tried on the the 7's she says "Yup these fit good". Who knew a two year old could tell!

She's a smart cookie.
